Trick – or treat? Is Lena Dunham for gun control or not? Last week’s episode of American Horror Story: Cult was restructured as it was originally set to feature a mass shooting. However, in light of the recent Las Vegas shootings, the episode was edited. This week among the usual cast, the next episode on Tuesday 10.17.2017 will feature Girls star Lena Dunham donning a new look – a wig and a gun. The controversial actress will play Valerie Solanas, a woman who attempted to assassinate artist Andy Warhol. Take a look at the trailer below via FX.

The quick peek of Dunham clearly shows her holding a gun in the promo spot. However, just last year, Dunham called for the defacement from Jason Bourne ads, featuring Matt Damon sporting a gun.

At the time, Damon was asked in an interview with E! News about Ms. Dunham’s thoughts on the matter.

“I totally get it. I mean especially given what’s going on recently, and I get not wanting to see a picture of a gun right now, and I don’t blame her at all. I mean for the marketing purposes of Jason Bourne—I mean he is a guy who runs around with a gun, so it’s not gratuitous marketing, but certainly in light of recent events I understand that impulse to want to tear the gun out of the picture.” Damon stated.

Shortly after the Las Vegas shootings earlier this month, Dunham further stated her opinion on gun control.

It seems like the shoe is on the other foot this year. What exactly is Ms. Dunham calling for?

Will Lena take her own advice and suggest FX alter their promos and her character? As we told you earlier, FX edited last week’s episode in light of the Las Vegas shootings. This poses the question; should Lena Dunham demand the same treatment for her own American Horror Story promos as she suggested last year with the Jason Bourne posters? She seems to say one thing but does another, as do many in Hollywood.

However, one thing she mentioned in her tweets was that there was no way around politicizing guns and and mass shootings. Given this we reached out to Tyler Capobres, the owner and operator of The Good Gun, on the state of the never-ending gun control argument. Here’s what he had to say:  Gun Control – Gearing Up for Another Loss?

In the meantime, one has to wonder – has Dunham’s position on guns and gun control suddenly changed now that she is profiting off of guns with her new character? Will she hold herself to the same standards that she asks of everyone else?
